The primary factor influencing the price of anionic polyacrylamide is the raw materials. Variations in raw material quality lead to price differences. Brand differences also play a role. Taking anionic polyacrylamide as an example, its price is approximately double that of cationic polyacrylamide. However, despite the higher cost of anionic polyacrylamide, its usage quantity is significantly reduced. From this perspective, the higher price offers distinct advantages.

Under market economy conditions, the price of polyacrylamide is intrinsically linked to the product specifications. Different grades command varying prices, with anionic types generally being the most economical. Cationic grades are priced higher than anionic, amphoteric grades exceed non-ionic, and cationic grades are the most expensive among these ionic types. Pricing is also determined by production processes and associated costs. Molecular weights range from several million to over twenty million, with prices varying accordingly. Higher molecular weights command higher prices. The cost of anionic polyacrylamide primarily relates to its solid content and molecular weight, typically ranging between 12 and 18 million. Another crucial indicator is hydrolysation degree. Lower hydrolysation corresponds to higher prices. Cationic polyacrylamide pricing relates to ion charge density. Typically, cationic polyacrylamide with ion charge densities between 20–60 ranges from ¥20,000 to ¥30,000; imported products command slightly higher prices.

Each polyacrylamide molecule is formed by the polymerisation of over one hundred thousand acrylamide or sodium acrylate molecules. Higher molecular weight correlates with superior flocculation properties, while solutions of higher molecular weight anionic amides exhibit greater viscosity, yielding more effective performance. Presently, anionic amides are manufactured with diverse anionic degrees, enabling selection of suitable variants based on requirements and practical testing. No further hydrolysis is required; the product is ready for use upon dissolution. Given that substandard quality in many products leads to poor efficacy or hazardous incidents, stringent quality control is imperative.
