Polyaluminium Chloride For The Removal of Metallic Substances From Wastewater

Newstime:2025-03-14        Source:Polyacrylamide

Polyaluminium chloride is a water purification agent, a high-molecular-weight inorganic flocculant. Due to the bridging action of its hydroxide ions and the polymerisation effect of its polyvalent nature, it becomes a water treatment chemical with a large molecular weight and high charge. Victor Company's polyaluminium chloride products are available in solid and liquid forms. Colour variations include white, yellow, and brown. Products of differing colours exhibit significant distinctions in application methods, production processes, and technical specifications.

In wastewater treatment, polyaluminium chloride effectively eliminates odours, bacteria, and discolouration. It demonstrates outstanding efficacy in removing multi-element substances from water. With broad applicability, it requires over 30% less dosage than traditional water purifiers, yielding cost savings exceeding 40%. It is now widely recognised as a premium water purification product globally. Poly Aluminium Chloride is also employed for purifying specialised water supplies such as tap water and potable drinking water. Applications include fluoride removal, cadmium removal, elimination of radioactive contaminants, iron removal, and oil skimming. Poly Aluminium Chloride exists within the range of ALNCl₃ to ALNCl₆-NLm, where n denotes the neutrality level of the combined aluminium chloride product and m represents the degree of polymerisation. Poly Aluminium Chloride, abbreviated as PAC, is commonly referred to as a coagulant or polyaluminium chloride. It appears as a yellow, pale yellow, dark brown, or deep brown resinous solid. It possesses strong bridging adsorption properties. During hydrolysis, physicochemical processes such as adsorption, coagulation, and precipitation occur concurrently.
Polyaluminium Chloride For The Removal of Metallic Substances From Wastewater

The application of polyaluminium chloride generally requires analysis based on specific conditions. Different turbidity levels in the water being treated necessitate varying dosages. However, the objective remains consistent: removing impurities from water. Its favourable reactivity makes it a frequently relied-upon agent for water treatment. Storage methods are similar to those for many chemical substances.

A key characteristic of polyaluminium chloride is its superior flocculation properties, producing large flocs that settle rapidly with minimal dosage. Additionally, it exhibits broad adaptability to water types, with minimal reduction in pH and alkalinity of treated water. Even at low water temperatures, polyaluminium chloride maintains stable precipitation effects. Its alkalinity is higher than other aluminium or iron salts, resulting in minimal equipment corrosion. It retains efficacy even when wet and clumped. Once dissolved, it functions identically to standard polyaluminium chloride products, effectively removing impurities from water.
