Quartz Sand Filter Media

The use of quartz sand filter media is typically combined with anthracite filter media. This constitutes the currently prevalent dual-stage filtration approach in China. Presently, quartz sand filter media is produced through two methods and raw materials:

1.  River sand from rivers, lakes, or sea sand can be utilised after screening. The advantage lies in sourcing locally, resulting in lower costs. Disadvantages include: prolonged immersion in seawater or river water leads to significant abrasion, reducing strength and shortening service life, thereby affecting filtration velocity.

2. Utilising natural quartz sand beds subjected to continuous screening. Screening criteria: specific gravity of 2.66 and mechanical strength of 7.5 degrees. Typically manufactured from quartz sand, it undergoes repeated crushing and washing processes. Visually, it predominantly exhibits spherical forms, though some exhibit angular crystalline structures with a lustrous appearance. It possesses high mechanical strength and excellent physical-chemical stability. Our factory employs advanced production techniques, significantly extending the filter media's service life. Compared to other media such as sea sand, it offers superior cost-effectiveness.
 

Quartz sand filter media exhibits strong wear resistance. It is particularly suitable for alkaline wastewater treatment. Zinc content must not exceed 0.005%. National standards explicitly stipulate that all parameters must remain within specified limits. These include numerous critical indicators: specific gravity, melting point, electrical conductivity, abrasion rate, hardness, void ratio, alkali resistance, acid resistance, and other heavy metal content standards. National standards stipulate: hardness of 7, electrical resistance of 2,550 degrees Celsius, specific gravity of 2.65, melting point of 1,780 degrees Celsius, abrasion rate of 0.3%, and void ratio of 43%. Quartz sand filter media finds extensive application across diverse industrial sectors. Possessing excellent physical and chemical properties, it remains relatively affordable. Many industrial water treatment facilities can utilise it cost-effectively, much like in domestic potable water processing. Water undergoes treatment through quartz sand filter media to meet drinking water purification standards. Consequently, it enjoys widespread societal application and economic value, significantly enhancing our living environment and quality of life.

       The ratio of quartz sand filter media to wastewater. It is advisable to first sample the sewage and conduct beaker tests to determine the optimal product ratio. Should the sewage dosage prove excessive, the filter media layer must be thickened. Conversely, when wastewater volumes are lower, the product thickness should be reduced. The sizing of the filter tank also warrants careful consideration. It is advisable to determine this based on the thickness of the quartz sand filter media. Conversely, the same principle applies: standard tank thickness is 80 centimetres, with maximum height at 90 centimetres and minimum height at 65 centimetres. Precise measurement tools should be employed to ascertain the optimal thickness. First, accurately measure the turbidity of the wastewater, then determine the optimal height of anthracite filter media according to the specific concentration of the wastewater.
