Anthracite Filter Media

Anthracite filter media, often termed ‘white coal’ due to its non-smoking properties and chemical stability, remains undissolved and unaffected by decomposition even in acidic, neutral, or alkaline water treatment processes. It offers distinct advantages in filtration speed, extended service life, and consistent performance. When employed in dual-layer, triple-layer, or multi-layer filter beds, it exhibits no loss of material or stratification issues – characteristics that are particularly noteworthy. Common specifications for anthracite: 0.5–0.8 mm 0.8–1.2 mm 0.8–1.8 mm 1–2 mm 2–4 mm
 

Performance characteristics: Anthracite filter media exhibits a lustrous appearance with a spherical shape. It possesses stable and robust water purification properties alongside consistent chemical and physical stability. The material demonstrates excellent compressive strength and high mechanical agitation resistance, containing no toxic or harmful substances. Its high abrasion resistance ensures it remains undissolved in diverse wastewater conditions, whether acidic, alkaline, or neutral. It exhibits superior adsorption capacity, with each pore gap exceeding approximately fifty-two per cent. Its contaminant retention capacity is also commendable. Light in mass and volume, it exhibits low wear after repeated washing cycles. It significantly reduces water and electricity consumption. The most effective approach is to minimise costs and footprint. Anthracite filter media is the most widely adopted solution for optimal filtration performance. Its applications are extensive, with broad adaptability. Possessing excellent solid particle retention, it achieves high removal rates of suspended solids. Commonly employed in potable water treatment and industrial wastewater purification.
 

The ratio of anthracite filter media to wastewater. It is advisable to first sample the sewage and conduct beaker tests to determine the optimal product ratio. Should the sewage dosage prove excessive, the filter media layer must be thickened. Conversely, when wastewater volumes are lower, the product thickness should be reduced. The dimensions of the filtration tank also warrant careful consideration. Ideally, these should be determined based on the thickness of the anthracite filter media, and vice versa. Typically, filter tanks have a thickness of 80 centimetres, with the maximum height being 90 centimetres and the minimum height 65 centimetres. It is advisable to utilise precise measuring tools to determine the optimal thickness. First, the turbidity of the wastewater must be measured accurately. Subsequently, the optimal height of the anthracite filter media should be determined based on the specific concentration of the wastewater.
